Cleveland Jewish News: Doing business in Israel? Try the 'direct approach’ printprint  
Michael Goldberg was working at America Online (AOL) when he had his first experience with Israel’s business culture.

AOL had just acquired Mirabilis, a Tel Aviv-based producer of real-time messaging technology. When Goldberg met the Israelis from the company, “they acted as if they had acquired us,” he recalls with a laugh.

It took Goldberg time to get used to the Israelis’ “smart, straightforward, aggressive” business acumen. Today, he is managing partner of Bridge Investment Fund, a venture capital firm aimed at bridging bioscience interests between Israel and Northeast Ohio. The fund’s main target industries are bio-medical, advanced materials and polymers.
